Sophie and Myra's Epic Climb

Tuesday 09th January 2018

Last weekend Sophia (4P ) and Myra (3R ) walked up Caer Caradoc, one of the highest hill in Shropshire with the summit at c460m. They had to walk through some treacherous, muddy fields and cross overflowing streams to get to the foothill. From there they started the ascent which involved walking up some very steep patches of the mountain and also climbing and scrambling up the rocky side of the hill. All this they did braving very cold temperatures and very strong winds (luckily no rain); at the summit it was -2c and the windchill factor made it feel like -8c. In doing the round trip to the mountain summit and back to the basecamp they walked more than 7 miles in under 4 hours. They had a wonderful time and we hope this will keep their interest in the outdoor challenges alive.
