Blog - January 2016
Thursday 21st January 2016
We extend a warm welcome back for the winter term, and a happy new year. I hope you had a restful break and that you are all looking forward to 2016. I know we are here at LHSPA.
What's been happening at Lynch Hill School Primary Academy in the last month -
Christmas concerts took place at the end of last term. Each year group staged a fabulous performance with lots of lovely costumes and angelic faces. The singing was amazing with several brilliant solos by the oldest pupils. The performances were all well attended and the audiences loved their achievements donating £221.66 to the charity collection afterwards. Everyone did really well and it was a great way to finish the term.
Mentoring reading scheme with LHEA
Our pupils are currently benefiting from a close collaboration with Lynch Hill Enterprise Academy – our sister secondary school – courtesy of a reading mentoring project. Year 8 pupils from LHEA are regularly visiting our primary school to support the reading of the key stage 1 pupils. Year 7 LHEA pupils are also working on large story books to share with our Reception children.
Non –uniform day
We raised £781.28 for school materials with our colourful Christmas-themed non-uniform day which took place on the 11th December. The next one will be later this term, so look out for news about it here soon!
Christmas party hats
Some amazing Christmas party hats were created by the pupils for the end of term Christmas lunches. There were some real masterpieces including some with Father Christmas coming down the chimney, and one enormous creation made out of paper cups! Others included Christmas tree hats, and several with gifts piled high on top. Well done to all that took part – they looked truly exceptional.
What we are looking forward to in the next month -
Natural History Museum visit
On Tuesday 26th January there will be a trip to the Natural History Museum for all of year 6. The children will be exploring the museum, discovering the dinosaurs and mammals as well as the fossils, and learning about the forces that affect our planet. Children will need to be at school early that morning to get on the coach – details have been sent via a letter home.
New after school club timetable
A new activity timetable for after school clubs is now available on the website. Clubs include tag rugby, film club, gymnastics, tennis, sewing and football amongst others!
See the full timetable here.

We will let you know via newsletter, Twitter and Facebook when the Christmas performance DVD will be available.
